Tim Cummins, President of IACCM; Professor, Leeds University School of Law; Chair, International Commercial & Contract Management
IACCM’s conference theme for 2019 - creating value through change – highlighted the critical role that the CCM community is playing in today’s volatile business environment. As one component of this, it explored how the world of commerce continues to be transformed by technology and, at the same time, how it is starting to enable fundamental shifts in the role and value of the CCM practitioner and function. This year's event was an inspiration for us all!
Sally Guyer, CEO IACCM
There is so much to say about this conference – it’s hard to know where to start! Here is a quick snap-shot!
- We delivered our largest sold-out Americas conference in Phoenix and have received fantastic feedback from attendees.
- We celebrated with the winners of the Innovation & Excellence Awards in the Americas and Global heats.
- We were inspired by “The Optimists” winning Americas Leaders of the Future team.
- As well as our Americas Conference, we partnered with Stanford University to host an Academic Symposium providing a forum for discussion and debate between academics and practitioners.
Valéria Antunes da Silva, Senior Contract Analyst, Capgemini
I’m deeply thankful to Capgemini for giving me the opportunity to be at the IACCM conference. We have a huge Commercial and Contract Management (CCM) community around the world, and I’ve had the chance to meet so many incredible professionals throughout this great event. Beyond all the learning that I got from this conference, I feel even more motivated to improve my skills in CCM, and I also invite you, young people, to get to know IACCM and how they can help you giving insights and knowledge for your career path. I’m pretty sure you’d be passionate about it as I am.
Iván Pinzón Amaya, Private Procurement Consultant
I want to express to the Association, my warmest congratulations for Americas Conference 2019. It was the first event of the Association I attended. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection of the venue; the logistics before and during the event; the excellent organization; the very interesting contents, all advanced; the quality and knowledge of the speakers; the plurality of the exhibitors. In short, a very interesting event, for those of us interested in contracts and commerce management.
Louise Heatley, VP of Events and Marketing, IACCM
We discussed emerging technologies, commercial transparency, contract economics, contract design, commercial innovation, optimism in commercial excellence, life-cycle management and much more. Our delegates participated in interactive workshops, Big Debates, industry café round-tables and inspiring key-note sessions. We hosted our first round of the 2019 Innovation and Excellence Awards celebrating contract and commercial excellence.
Victor Perton, Author: "That Optimism Man!"
Feeling enlivened and overjoyed: A wonderful experience to be a keynote speaker on “infectiously optimistic” in the opening session of IACCM’s Americas Conference, Phoenix. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of IACCM by Tim Cummins, it was the largest IACCM conference ever as its membership grows by more than a 1000 a month to more than 60,000 today led by Sally Guyer. So many wonderful stories told to me -about the role of optimism in cancer recovery, to inspiring stories of change management, to eliminating polio in Nigeria.
Ines (Scharlach) Curtius, Legal/Contract Intrapreneur , Speaker, Legal Enthusiast, ContractInnovator @Airbus Defence and Space (Space Systems, Inc.)
We won the IACCM global innovation and excellence award 2019 for an NDA which has been generated and created using quite traditional methods and tools, e.g. design thinking and design tools ....but using these methods and tools we were enabled and empowered to be innovative and creative, transforming the traditional appearance and ease of understanding thought the use of graphics and visualization.
Steven Bistany, CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP Global Strategic Sourcing | Supply Chain Leader | Lean Continuous Improvement
Based on a program created and designed by the CEO, Sally Guyer, the IACCM provides corporate members with the opportunity to nominate a young individual from their organization to step into a new and challenging environment. The selected young stars are invited to join a private session with senior leaders to enable them to deliver a presentation at an IACCM Conference focused on a specific issue. Participants benefit from direct interactions and mentoring by ‘leaders of today’ and are exposed to transformational ideas and emerging technologies. Thank you Sally for providing such a wonderful development opportunity to our young CCM professionals!
Erin Gleason Alvarez, Arbitrator and Mediator at Gleason Alvarez ADR, LLC
Great event. Honored to present a Dispute Prevention/Dispute Resolution workshop with Noah Hanft and Howard Carsman today. Topics covered ranged from standing neutrals and dispute boards to drafting sensible (and enforceable) dispute resolution clauses. Attention arbitration and conference organizers! This place is amazing. Most if not all events should be held at Wild Horse Pass outside Phoenix from now on. The sun sets on the Americas Conference 2019 - thought provoking and great fun.
Craig Conte, Managing Director, Contracts Consulting at Elevate Services
Fun facts - just had a great time at the Americas conference with my partner and friend Kingsley Martin, KM Standards, where it was crystal clear to me that we’ll be doing even more work together next year on contract simplification and driving value out of contract creation. So great that everyone is on same page - well done Sally Guyer and Elevate Services.
Lamar Chesney, Speaker, Writer & Advisor - Business Strategy, Corporate Finance & Supply Chain Management
I want to thank you, Tim and your awesome support staff on yet another unbelievably successful gathering of greatness from our ever-expanding profession. The tone, tenor and content were timely and urgently germane. Congratulations to you and your organization for another milestone of success.
Anna van der Lugt, Commercial and Project Management, IACCM Advisory Council Member for New Zealand
A perfect last day of the conference: Everyone is keen for further collaboration across the IACCM Council to champion IACCM member initiatives. It was an honor being a jury member to select the Leaders of the Future. The team passionately and convincingly demonstrated the need for trust, ethics, creativity and collaboration in effective contract and commercial management.
